Barney Ward says Walker is in favor of what we have done and not make a treaty until they offer themselves and he will let the Mormons know that he is their friends. L.S. Lake is far better than San Octe. Walker sent to the Yampa Utes to tell them not to keep the Tipenny Utes. There was one instance of a little boy being sick when an Indian took a Piute prisoner child and shot it. The sick child died. The Indian was taken sick and father Richards gave him some medicine, but I told him all the medicine in the world would not save him, and in 2 or 3 days he died. They killed the Piute as they believed the Ute would recover.
