David Fullmer comments on effects of expedition.
David Fullmer, Letter to Isaac Morley, MS 2334, March 16, 1850, Church History Library
We were sorry that some of our Brethren were wounded & one slain, our prayers have been that God would bless our Brethren & override all the things for the Good of his people, We send you the Brass cannon with 9 bullets & other implements, belonging to the same <also balance of peg of powder> We have not the Presidents <Young> authority for doing this, but presuming your request in this thing was reasonable & having all the load we can do with, we willingly give it up to you, on the condition that it will be subject to the Prest's Young order also brought to Salt Lake valley or any where else he might with As to Provisions we have made a dividend of the amount of bread stuff in Camp to each person & we find that there is only 1/2 lbs per day for 120 days without meat [insert] it would therefore be injudicious & unsafe for us to part with that, which in all probability will barely supply our own wants It would have been a satisfaction to our Camp should their circumstances to spare you some provisions.
