Bro. Elder Ables being called upon made a few remarks Elder Page said he respects a coloured bro. as such but wisdom forbids that we should introduce before the public Elder O. Pratt sustained the position of Bro. Page Brother Ables said he had no disposition to force himself upon an equality with white people and went on to explain a circumstance that had recently occurred Elder Grant followed he rose to explain his course toward Brother Ables his remarks on the occasion alluded to did not grow out of ill feelings towards Bro. Able But purely as a matter of policy yet thinks perhaps he spoke sharply but still contends for the principle Bro Ables arose and insisted that he had been misused. Bro. Page remarked that there was no excuse for anger or a bad spirit. Bro Able said he was sorry inasmuch as he had done wrong Elder Kimball arose and called upon Bro. Ables to confess before this meeting boldly and frankly that was the proper course to pursue we must cultivate good feelings one to another and any thing short of this will overthrow us Bro. Able arose and made a satisfactory acknowledgement, Elder Kimball deduced therefrom a woeful moral, "Weed out every bad principle that good seed may take root and bear fruit viz. Righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. . . Bro Ables was advised to visit the coloured population the advice was sanctioned by the conference.
