"A meeting of the friends of General Joseph Smith of Nauvoo, IL as a candidate for the Presidency, was held in Fifth Street, New York, on the evening of the 28th inst. J.T. Ball Esq. was called to the Chair, and Wm H. Miles Esq. chosen Clerk."
