The veracity of the Mormon Leader is especially salubrious; witness the following--"No distinction is made against them (the negroes) as members of the Church; but they are not eligible to any office either civil or religious." The logic of this statement is only equalled by its legality. Territories are under Congressional control, and one would think under our form of government oppressed men had a right to look for a friend in a Massachusetts Attorney General. If they have, we have reason to hope that this innocence and impiety of a band of tolerated malefactors will speedily be brought before the proper tribunal, the rights of United States citizens be fully maintained, and the laws of Utah be made to conform to the requirements of the Constitution of the United States.
