The true origin of the difference of complexion is hidden from us. I know of no history that pretends to tell anything about color in the early history of man. The Bible says nothing about it; and who will say whether Noah was of a light or dark complexion? We have indeed an account of the confusion of tongues, but nothing about complexion; and he that asserts that we are the descendants of Cain , while he himself is not, can hardly have read the 7th chapter of Genesis, at least not by course; and he that declares that we suffer the curse of Heaven, declares that which God hath not declared, and which we never heard proven.
