. . . as there has been some disturbance here of late by the Indians and as many false reports might to abroad concerning the matters I thought it would not be amiss to write a few lines to you letting you know concerning the matters. There had been give of our best horses and one colt stolen by the Indians, whether it be by the Snakes or Utes we have not as yet determined. The horses were taken at three different times. . . .
