Sandy, Utah — (KUTV) After being touted as the state with the strongest Star Wars interest, two locally-owned movie theater locations opened in the top 10 nationally, demonstrating that Utah passionately loves the film franchise in the opening weekend of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Cue all the "force is strong" references you want, but The District theaters in South Jordan and Jordan Commons in Sandy, finished number seven and 10 respectively, each with festivities involving fans and costumes and multiple auditoriums showing the film in multiple formats including 3D and in IMAX.

In all, Megaplex reported seven of its locations finishing in the top 100 in the U.S.
