Elder Cannon then said: I hold in my hand the revised edition of the Doctrine and Covenants, one which the members and certainly all the officers of the church have seen and read; also the Pearl of Great Price. In Kirkland, the Book of Doctrine and Covenants, in its original form, was submitted for the acceptance of the officers and members of the church; and as some additions have been made of revelations since the first publication, it was deemed advisable to submit it now for the acceptance of the members of the church if they so choose.

Joseph F. Smith then moved the adoption of the books, and the motion being put was carried unanimously.
