The theological conception of a Mother in heaven as well as a Father lends dignity to motherhood and wifehood. Joseph Smith was in full agreement with the apostle Paul who said, "Neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord." And so Mormonism puts woman by the side of man in the scheme of salvation.
