M 16 Some thunder in the course of the day and a little rain but not enough to lay the dust. I was in the office most of the time puting up accounts. very warm

Issued a warrant for the arrest of Willams Camp and others for an alledged attempt to take a negro out of this territory against his will. upon the affidavit of E. D. Woolley which was soon returned. The sheriff having arrested the said Camp and on S.D. Greer, J. J. Williams and Hosea Stout approved as approved as their counsel who asked for a postponement of the investigation till the next day at 2 PM.

T 17 The investigation of the complaint was announced at 2 PM but owing to the hindrance caused by the defendants counsel it was not completed. Two other persons A.V. Green and Madison Jones were arrested as accessories to the alledged kidnapping.

W 18 Finished the investigation of the matter [unreadable] situation yesterday and believing that there was not sufficient proof against the accused to connect them I discharged them tho I believed truly, that they were guilty of what was alledged against them.
