ASR reports a study based on a large online survey that found that religious parenting was associated with suicidal thoughts (but not attempts) for LGBT youth and that leaving the religion was associated with suicide attempts.

All three indicators were associated with suicidal thoughts in the last month, parental anti-homosexual religious beliefs was associated with chronic suicidal thoughts in the last month and two indicators (i.e., leaving ones religion and parents religious beliefs about homosexuality) were associated with suicide attempt in the last year.
