Can I do temple work for victims of the Jewish Holocaust?

Article Id: 985

September 25, 2023

You can request and perform the ordinances for Jewish Holocaust victims in some circumstances:

You are an immediate family member of the deceased (parent, spouse, child, or sibling).

You have permission from all living immediate family members.

If no immediate family members are alive, you have permission from the closest living relative.

Please carefully research all existing data to ensure that you have supporting sources for each person you add to Family Tree.

Steps

Add your family members to Family Tree.

Contact FamilySearch, if you are unable to reserve ordinances for a given person. Be prepared to provide details:

Your relationship to the individual for whom you want to do work

Name of the individual being requested

ID Number of the individual being requested

Reason why ordinances are being requested

The immediate family members or closest living descendants from whom you received permission to perform the temple work.

You can also submit your request in writing:Family History Department

15 East South Temple Street

Salt Lake City, UT 84150-0406

After you finish

You receive a message regarding your request no matter what the decision is. FamilySearch Support tries to reply in a timely manner.

Your request is approved. If the request is approved, the admin (anyone in the area who is assigned to work the case) will print the card and provide it as part of an email attachment with the response.

Your request is declined. If you have additional information or reasons to provide, reply to the message you received.
