"Nobody ever saw a dead donkey," said Sam Weller. "In these days it may be safely asserted that nobody ever saw a negro Mormon. " The above is going the rounds, but it is incorrect. Any one interested can find a number of colored "Saints" in Salt Lake City. One of the grievances urged nearly fifty years ago against the Mormons in Missouri was that they were baptizing their neighbors slaves.
