Thompson family history reports that Mary Penelope Thompson saw Martin Harris bear testimony on his deathbed.

On July 10, 1875, when word came that Martin Harris was dying, Mary was in the yard with his grandchildren and went into the house and with them and heard his dying testimony. He was propped up on pillows by Uncle Will Homer, who also helped Martin Harris hold up his hand as he testified.
