Dear Mr. Crowley:
I hasten to correct any impression that you may have in regard to Father's manuscript dealing with the Book of Mormon and Ethan Smith's View of the Hebrews.
During the last few years of his life, he had been working on an outline of comparison. This work was never finished, and of course, was not in shape for publication. You may rest assured, however, that he found nothing in his study which reflected upon the integrity of Joseph Smith's account of the Book of Mormon.
I have been approached by scores of persons who desire to read this manuscript and have corrected any false impressions that they had gained through rumor in regard to it. There have been so many stories circulated about the manseript that I have found it impossible to cope with the situation, and have, therefore, simply permitted them to die out.
I have not granted any of the numerous requests of persons seeking to read the manuscript and have simply filed it away with a number of other things that Father was working on at the time of his death.
I can also assure you that I am not responsible for any of the rumors in circulation.
Yours very truly,
ROBERTS AND ROBERTS
