So my brethren, I would like to say this: I hold no brief for the government of Germany; there are things about it that to me are detestable, but I do hold a brief primarly for the German Saints who are as good and as valiant as are we. Let us therefore not condemn a people, even as we did not in the World War, for the sins of their government.
