He did as was commanded; found the plates, and, by the aid of Aaron's urim and thummim, deciphered, translated, and published them as a new revealation from God, of equal authority with the Old and New Testaments. . . . Joseph Smith was directed by an angel to the place, and, by the aid of his glasses, and the urim and thummim, was enabled to decipher the plates and to write the book.
