Sen. Mike Lee drew criticism from members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this week after comparing President Donald Trump to Captain Moroni, a heroic and selfless figure in the Book of Mormon. . . . "The Church's mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, not to elect politicians," Jennifer Wheeler, a local media specialist for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said in a written statement. "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is neutral in matters of party politics."
