The secret garment, said Mrs. Shepherd, is a suit of underwear which every Mormon swears always to wear. In changing he or she must never let it be entirely removed from his body. It has long sleeves and a rolling collar. . . When the Mormon boys went into camp at the time of the draft, Mrs Shepherd said, 'such a fuss was made by the Mormon authorities over the order that all soldiers must wear entirely government clothing that finally Uncle Sam let those boys go to war wearing the secret garment.
