ER's vision and retrieval of a seer stone.
"The Seer Stone of Edwin Rushton," typescript, MS 24401, Edwin Rushton Family Collection, Church History Library. Dated April 1, 1937
. . . I was caught away by the spirit and taken away from my home on a frequented footpath across lots...the earth on the right side of my opened to the same depth and I beheld a pot of treasure on top of which was a record on plates...and on top of these a beautiful Seer Stone, clear as crystal, which belonged to me...After a lapse of sometime, I proceeded to hunt for the stone shown to me in vision...We obtained the stone May 4, 1846...It is my firm conviction that this stone is one of the stones spoken of by John the Revelator, second chapter, seventeenth verse...This Seer-Stone is now in the possession of Bishop C.N. Christensen...who married a daughter of Edwin Rushton. The stone appears to be a little smaller than a quarter section of a baseball, and is crystal clear like pure water.
