אָדָם m. (1.) a man, Lat. home; collect. men; often with some accessory idea; as other men; common or wicked men; men of inferior rank, when opposed to אִישׁ or שָׂרִים; also slaves or dependents; soldiers. (2.) rarely a man, Lat. vir. (3.) any one. (4.) pr. name of the first man, unless it be more properly rendered as an appellative, the man. (5.) pr. name of a city.— בֶּן אָדָם a son of man, i.q. אָדָם a man. בְּנֵי אָדָם men, used as the pl. of אָדָם.— אֶבְיוֹנֵי אָדָם the poor among men, i.e. the poor
