Edward Stevenson records in his journal that he said Adam is the God and Father of his spirit and body.
Edward Stevenson, Journal, March 7, 1880, MS 4806, Church History Library
. . . God as the father of our spirits in the previous world, & then Adam our Father came down as one of of the 3 that made this world & fell that man in the flesh might be. . . Adam is the Father of my Spirit & also of my body, the body being Bone of the Bone & Flesh of his Flesh. I spoke 45 minutes & Bp. Hess said that he could endorse all that had been said although he did not understand all, yet it made him feel good & like living his religion.
