Brigham Young teaches that the Father came down "in his tabernacle" to beget Jesus.
Brigham Young, "Effects and Privileges of the Gospel the Latter-Day Saints and the Christian World," Journal of Discourses, 26 vols. (Liverpool: F.D. and S.W. Richards, 1854), 1:238
Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of the Father? "Yes." Do you believe the Son was begotten by the Father, as the Apostles said he was? Here I shall have to disagree with you, to begin with; for I believe the Father came down from heaven, as the Apostles said he did, and begat the Saviour of the world; for he is the ONLY-begotten of the Father, which could not be if the Father did not actually beget in person.
"I cannot believe that, for he is a God without body, parts, or passions; He has no person, therefore, I must disagree with you, brother Mormon." I believe the Father came down in His tabernacle and begat Jesus Christ. Mr. B. believes He has no tabernacle. I believe He has a tabernacle, and begat Jesus Christ in His express image and likeness, because the Bible expressly declares it. . . . The Bible is mine, and I am not prepared to have you rob me of it, without my consent. The doctrine in it is mine, which I firmly believe. I believe the Father begat the Son and gave him to be a propitiation for the sins of the world. I believe he died for the redemption of man, and rose again the third day.
