Joseph Smith, Sr. blesses Joseph Smith, Jr., possibly alludes to alcohol problem.
Blessing from Joseph Smith Sr., December 9, 1834, 3, The Joseph Smith Papers website, accessed July 6, 2021
Thou hast stood by thy father, and like Shem, would have covered his nakedness, rather than see him exposed to shame: when the daughters of the Gentiles laughed, thy heart has been moved with a just anger to avenge thy kindred.
The possible allusion to alcohol here comes from Genesis 9:20–23. In that chapter, Noah drinks wine until drunk and naked, then his sons Shem and Japheth cover him with a garment.
